Campaign Story

Hi, my name is Vero and I want to raise funds to recover everything that the fire has destroyed: our car, all our camping equipment and other valuables.

Yesterday we lost the car, everything we had stored inside it and the trunk full of things to spend the weekend. In addition to clothes, shoes, prescription sunglasses and prescription glasses for both of us, watch, chargers and other valuables... All the camping equipment: camping tent, inflatable mattress, sleeping bags, table, chairs, kitchen utensils, camping light... Absolutely everything we had been buying for years, and of course souvenirs.



Yesterday, 20/07/24, thinking about spending a day on the beach in Begur, early in the morning we parked the car correctly on a street near Sa Riera. After finishing the day we went back to pick up the car when we found the whole area burned. At first we didn't even recognize the car. We just knew that we had left it well parked there. And the completely burned car, which no longer had a license plate, or color, or anything inside it, was ours, or what was left of it.

The car looked brand new, it was only 6 years old, it was well maintained and it worked perfectly. It was a hybrid and small, perfect for the two of us. With it and all the camping stuff it was our second home on wheels. Now we have nothing.

The neighbours saw us arrive and, to our disbelief, explained what had happened. A tourist had an accident with his car in poor condition. He stopped right in that area, got out of the car and everything caught fire. The firemen and police arrived but they could not do anything to prevent the material damage. They could not call us because the number plate and chassis number were burned. It was completely unrecognisable. The tow truck took the car away, dragging it because it didn't even have wheels. Wheels that we had just changed a month ago.

The devastation is total, as if in one day, due to someone else's carelessness, you could lose everything completely. It will be impossible to replace all the material and a similar car. We are left with nothing, with the loss of both material and sentimental things.

The insurance company has informed us that we will have to file a legal claim against the tourist who caused the incident. It will be a long process, they cannot tell us how long it will take, and they will give us the value of the car as a total loss, almost nothing. We will not be able to recover anything from personal belongings, camping equipment...
